Description

Solid wood table tree edge spider frame

Further product informationen

The branched legs of the spider frame, tapering towards the end, resemble the anatomy of the spider crab. The very long, branched legs give this species an incomparable elegance. The futuristic, elegant design comes into its own especially in spacious rooms in combination with a long and harmonious oak table top. The elaborately manufactured spider frames made of powder-coated steel ensure a very high stability and load capacity of the table, even with excess lengths.

All table tops have two screwed struts on the underside of the table to ensure permanent stability. The solid oak board is glued from 2-6 solid planks. Particular attention is paid to a homogeneous wood grain course. The 4-4.5 cm thick, smoothly sanded and oiled table top has a lightly brushed / sanded tree edge on both sides. The small cracks and knotholes are lavishly filled with black-colored resin. This prevents liquids from penetrating the plate.

Surface treatment

The natural edge is brushed and lightly sanded so that it retains its natural character. Larger knotholes, natural cracks and unevenness are sealed with very dark epoxy resin, which tends to black. Smaller knotholes, cracks and dried wormholes are treated with wax on the surface. In terms of quality, there is no need to completely fill up every little unevenness or dried wormhole. This is especially true for the underside. The surface is then sanded flat and oiled so that you can use your solid wood panel immediately after delivery.

Flatness and tolerance

Wood is a living material and works. Light and temperature have an effect before, during and after production. We strive to keep the surfaces flat and work to millimetre precision. We have very good tools and high-quality machines, as well as qualified and talented staff. Nevertheless, we allow a tolerance of up to 3 mm, sometimes even a little more. Especially high lengths of benches, tables, as well as washstands, are and cannot be kept and manufactured 100 % even. Slight unevenness is in the nature of things and has its own charm. You may achieve 100 % evenness with plywood or solid wood elements that are glued together from many smaller pieces (glued wood panels with lamella widths of 3-5 cm). However, since we work with long and 20 to 40 cm wide planks that are kept very natural, this is not the case. We also allow a few millimetres of tolerance in terms of flatness.

Product care

For optimum care of the oak stool with spider frame, you can purchase a suitable care set. You can easily carry out the recommended six-monthly re-oiling and minor repairs yourself. The care set consists of a bottle of hard wax oil, hand sandpaper, a soft wax stick including spatula and a cotton cloth for applying/wiping off the oil. You can find further information on care here.

Origin of our woods

We source our oak wood exclusively from controlled forestry in Lower Saxony, Brandenburg and Bavaria.
We are also committed to reforestation and have already planted 130 oak trees this year, with more to come.
Wood from Eastern European or non-European overexploitation has no chance with us!
